Family Respite Care Grant
The Family Respite Care Grant helps alleviate the cost of respite care for families caring for loved ones with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia. The grants are awarded to AFA’s nonprofit member organizations, which must utilize the funds to provide scholarships to clients with Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia and/or their families with financial needs. The scholarships are for respite services, such as social model adult day programs, in-home aides, companion care or overnight respite, at the grantee’s own organization or another organization.
TA select number of the grants—the Anna P. Brodsky Family Respite Care Grant—are awarded in memory of the deceased mother of Bert E. Brodsky, AFA's founding chairman. The chairman's mother had Alzheimer's disease—driving his passion to assist family caregivers.
This grant is offered in the spring and fall of each year; for consideration, applications must be postmarked by:
Spring cycle – June 1
Fall cycle – December 1
