Alzheimer’s Foundation Awards ‘Excellence in Care’ Status to First New Jersey Facility

NEW YORK, NY— The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (AFA) recently awarded its “Excellence in Care Dementia Care Program of Distinction” status to Juniper Village at Williamstown, The Wellspring Memory Care Program in Williamstown, NJ that provides care to individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.

The assisted living facility was awarded “Excellence in C1are” after meeting AFA’s set of comprehensive standards that reflect what AFA believes are the essential components of any quality dementia care program. It is the first dementia care setting in New Jersey and the 30th facility in the nation to receive this designation.

“It is a great honor to be the first recipient [of the Excellence in Care Program of Distinction] in New Jersey,” said Maria Ciocca, executive director at Juniper Village at Williamstown. “This distinction has generated a significant sense of pride in our associates and has given new meaning to the personalization of service that they deliver to the residents each day.”

Eric J. Hall, AFA’s president and CEO, said Juniper Village at Willamstown “has shown that it is committed to maximizing quality of care, which speaks volumes about their commitment to residents and their families.”

Williamstown is the third community in the Juniper Communities chain to receive the distinction, joining Juniper Village in Aurora, CO and Louisville, CO. Juniper Communities owns and operates 16 assisted living and skilled nursing care communities in Colorado, Florida, New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and offers a signature program called Alive in All Seasons that focuses on residents’ wellness in mind, body and spirit.

Excellence in Care is a voluntary program that includes evaluation of a setting’s physical environment, safety procedures, program activities, staff-client interaction and staff training. AFA-trained Excellence in Care specialists nationwide conduct the on-site evaluations and consult with facilities to comply with the standards and for ongoing performance improvement.
