Alzheimer's Foundation of America Names Top Researcher George Perry to Medical Advisory Board
NEW YORK, NY –The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America has appointed George Perry, Ph.D., one of the world’s top Alzheimer’s disease researchers, to its medical advisory board.
Perry of Helotes, TX is dean of the College of Sciences and a professor of biology at the University of Texas at San Antonio. He is editor-in-chief of the Journal of Alzheimer’s Disease and serves on the editorial board of more than 100 journals.
Among his numerous other appointments, Perry served as president of the American Association of Neuropathologists . In addition, he is an adjunct professor of pathology and neurosciences at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland, OH, and an a ffiliate professor of chemistry and biochemistry at the University of Alaska, Fairbanks.
Perry, a neuroscientist, is widely recognized for his work in cytopathology, a branch of pathology dealing with cell disease and damage, and has played a key role in distinguishing oxidative damage as the initial cytopathological abnormality in Alzheimer’s disease. His research has appeared in more than 800 professional publications.
In announcing Perry’s appointment, Eric J. Hall, AFA’s president and chief executive officer, said, "We are honored that Dr. George Perry has agreed to join our board.
