COMMUNITY FUNDRAISING

Here are several simple fundraising events that you can organize while building fellowship and generating goodwill.

A

ALMA MATER
Contact your alumni newsletter to place a note asking for donations to AFA.

B

ATHLETIC EVENTS
People embrace opportunities to go outside. Organize a road race in your community. Or set an athletic goal for yourself, such as completing a local triathlon or biking a certain distance, and ask friends and family for their support.

C

COORDINATE EVENTS
Contact your local senior center or senior housing facility to hold an event to benefit AFA and be on hand to help out.

D

FOR TEENS
Organize a car wash with your sports team, club or group of friends and donate the proceeds to AFA, or hold a talent show at your school and collect admission for AFA.

E

CREATE A PERSONAL/CORPORATE FUNDRAISING PAGE
Our Web-based system makes it easy for you to announce your event and to have people sponsor you online. Plus, you'll be able to track success toward your fundraising goal! Making your own fundraising page takes just a few minutes. Click here to learn how.

A

DRESS DOWN DAY
Employees who donate a specific dollar amount get to wear jeans for the day.

B

ARM YOURSELF IN BLACK & WHITE
Employees purchase black and white rubber wristbands. Every time a designated employee spots a co-worker wearing his or her wristband, the company donates a specific dollar amount to the cause.

C

LIGHT CANDLES OF CARE
Organize a candle lighting ceremony at your workplace as part of National Commemorative Candle Lighting in November, an annual event to honor those affected by Alzheimer's disease, and invite employees to make a donation.

D

MAKE MEMORIES
Post a bulletin board in the office. Employees who contribute a certain dollar amount can post a photo that reflects a favorite memory.

E

ADD "CAUSE" TO THE CAFETERIA CHECK
Enable employees to donate at the cafeteria check-out. Recognize their contribution by posting heart-shaped donor cards with their names in the cafeteria or another appropriate spot in your building.

F

POST A DONATION BOX
Set up a donation box in a high-traffic area with signage that reflects the intent and spirit of the campaign. Add a second box that includes educational materials about Alzheimer's disease.
